What we learned from 250 customers

I’ve been in this business for fifteen years.

In that time, we’ve served over 250 customers across 25 countries. Everything from startup brands ordering their first 1,000 bags to global names you’d recognise.

If you asked me at the start what would determine whether a client relationship lasted, I would have said: quality and price.

I would have been wrong.

The pattern that actually emerged surprised me.

The clients who stayed — the ones who reorder year after year — are not the ones who got the best price.

They’re the ones who felt understood.

That sounds vague. Let me be specific.

A client in Switzerland needed bags for a luxury cosmetics launch. Their brief was clear: premium feel, exact Pantone match, specific handle length. We delivered. Perfect execution.

Six months later, they moved to a factory that was 12% cheaper.

Another client — let’s call him Joe — started with a small order of cotton totes for his Amazon store. Nothing fancy. But during the process, we noticed his bags would look better with a slightly different stitch pattern. We suggested it. He trusted us. It worked.

That was over a decade ago. Joe is still a client.

The difference? In the first case, we were a vendor. We filled an order. In the second, we became a thinking partner. We added judgment, not just capacity.

Here’s what I’ve come to believe after 250 relationships:

The factory that understands your brand will always outlast the factory that just understands your spec sheet.

Your spec sheet tells us dimensions, fabric weight, and print colours.

Your brand tells us why those choices matter.

And when we understand the why, we catch things you didn’t even know to ask for.

Warmly,

Deven
